Turface Athletics™ Announces Winners of 50th Anniversary Promotions
BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (February 12, 2014) — Turface Athletics™ announces the culmination of a trio of promotions conducted as part of its 50th anniversary, celebrated throughout 2013.
"We had a lot of fun in 2013 celebrating 50 years in the sports field industry, in large part because we were able to give back and say thank you to our customers, who made this milestone possible," said Jeff Langner, brand manager for Turface Athletics.
The "Watch & Win," "My Turface Story" and "50 Field Days" promotions were in celebration of Turface Athletics’ history of grass roots engagement with and education of sports field groundskeepers. Each promotion rewarded entrants for their participation and highlighted Turface’s commitment to ongoing education of the sports field management industry.
Watch & Win
The "Watch & Win" giveaway offered sports field managers, coaches and field volunteers a chance to win big simply by watching one of the many educational videos from Turface’s expanded video library at Turface.com and submitting an entry form.
The library is a free resource tailored to help educate sports field managers at any level of play about a wide range of maintenance practices, from moisture management to mound repair and installation. Visit the video library here.
The third and final winner of the giveaway was Ray Cason with Glynn County Recreation & Parks in Brunswick, Ga. Cason joined previous winners Mike Skender with Gurnee Park District in Gurnee, Ill., and Mark Roberts, a sports turf manager with The Steward School in Richmond, Va.
The three randomly-selected winners each received two tons of Turface® product and $250 to purchase field maintenance supplies.
My Turface Story
"My Turface Story" asked field managers, coaches and volunteers to share the ways in which Turface products had improved their sports fields, saved a game from a rainout, helped them solve problems or made their jobs easier. Every entrant received a free Turface Athletics t-shirt and tape measure for entering.
Thomas Lucken with Vandalia Field of Dreams in Vandalia, Ill., was selected to win the grand prize package of four tons of Turface product and $500 to purchase field maintenance supplies.
Lucken’s story featured Turface’s ability to recover his fields in time for play on numerous occasions after bad weather.

50 Field Days
Paige Cruse, sports turf manager for the City of Franklin Parks in Franklin, Tenn., was chosen at random to receive five tons of Turface product and $500 for hosting one of the over 50 field days conducted in 2013 in conjunction with Turface’s 50th anniversary.
The "50 Field Days" promotion emphasized the critical role field day events played in helping shape the company’s 50-year history. These events created opportunities for Turface personnel to team up with grounds maintenance crews, coaches and parents and provide instruction and tips on how to best maintain and manage sports fields.
"We continue to maintain a strong commitment to field maintenance education, and look for opportunities to bring that message to the people who are out working on ball fields day in and day out," Langner said. "Our principle objective for more than 50 years has been improving the safety and playability of fields for athletes everywhere."
